I am experienced in software development for desktop, console, and embedded applications. I take pride in producing clean, easy to understand, and easy to use solutions which provide value and efficiency to the end user.

During my time in college, I have developed a passion for developing embedded hardware and software solutions, and computer networking and security.

Experience

Cyber Security and Computer Specialist

ABB Inc.

Built an automated installation deployment system to deploy operating system images, drivers, software, system hardening scripts, and other system configurations to distributed control system host computers from a singule Microsoft Excel workbook. The system utilizes a Microsoft Excel and VBA interface and exports node configurations as XML documents via an FTP server. These configurations are then interpreted by an HTML Application and VBScript back-end from a Windows Deployment Services boot image.

Maintained patch repositories for various systems for deployment via WSUS or patch management utility on a local network.

May 2021 - Present

Associate Engineer Intern

TinyCircuits

Made a variety of Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects involving sensors, displays, motors, communication, and IoT devices. Gained experience troubleshooting custom embedded hardware devices and developing code from device documentation.

January 2018 - December 2020

Cyber Security Co-op

ABB Inc.

Created user tools to automate the configuration of network switches and time synchronization registries for DCS infrastructure.

September 2019 - December 2019

Systems Engineering Co-op

ABB Inc.

Developed an understanding of DCS heirarchies at the hardware and network levels. Configured HMI symbols to interface with existing tag databases to upgrade a legacy control system.

January 2019 - April 2019

General Laborer

All-Do-It Technical Services LLC

Worked a wide variety of jobs including forklift driving, rigging equipment for transport, aluminum extrusion press maintenance, machine repair, hub rebuilds, and running conduit and wiring.

Projects

H.A.L.O. - Hard Hat Ambient Liability Observer

Senior Design Project
This product is a hard hat attachment which utilizes time-of-flight (ToF) sensors to detect hazards near the wearer's head. Dependent on the distance between the user and the hazard, some RGB LEDs placed near the brim of the hard hat will turn on and change hue from yellow to red as objects approach. In the event that the user suffers an impact to their head, an on-board accelerometer will detect the impact severity. If this impact is determined to pose a concussion threat to the user, the accelerometer data is logged to a .csv file on a micro-SD card.

NASA Robotic Mining Competition

University Design Team
This team's focus is to design and produce a robot for a simulated mining mission on Martian or lunar soil.
In my role as the electrical subteam lead, I initiated an overhaul of our custom electrical system to enhance modularity, maintainability, and minimize the physical footprint while preserving all existing features of the system.

FIRST Robotics Competition

Falco Tech - Team 3193
During all four years of high school, I was involved with our FRC team. Each year, a new game is released and teams all across the world are given six weeks to design and build a robot to specification to compete in that year's game.
While part of the team, we competed in Ultimate Ascent (2013), Aerial Assist (2014), Recycle Rush (2015), and FIRST Stronghold (2016). I held a role on the drive team from 2014-2016 in which I would control the mechanisms of the robot which interacted with game pieces.
My involvement on this team is ultiately what made me decide to pursue a major in Computer Engineering.

Interests

My interests related to computers include DIY arduino projects, maintaining a small home lab network, and repairing/modifying old video game consoles.

Aside from working with computers, I like to spend some time enjoying the outdoors. Due to pursuits in scouting, I've developed interests in hiking, plant and wildlife identificaiton, and astronomy.

I also enjoy amateur woodworking as a hobby and maintain a record collection. When time allows, I dabble in playing the guitar, although my primary instrument is the trumpet.
